DESPITE RAIN, LEHIGH WINTERFEST A SUCCESS


Despite the rain, the first annual Lehigh Winterfest was a success! An estimated 2,000+ were in attendance throughout Saturdays event.

The first performances were delayed and some of the attractions were forced to stop for safety reasons due to rain, but by 3:20 pm the skies began to clear and Winterfest began.

VFW post 4174 presented the American flag while Ms. Posner, director of the Tortuga Preserve Chorus sang the National Anthem.

Tortuga Preserve Elementary Chorus performed Christmas music from around the world, followed by Minnie and Mickey mouse and the much anticipated arrival of Santa Claus.

Other performances included the Country Rhythm Cloggers, Boys and Girls Club of Lehigh Acres, I Love to Dance Studio, Zumba with Kelly, the Michael King Band, Mexican Folkloric Dancers, Yolanda Clemente, and Barbara Alonso.

Other attractions included Games from First Baptist Church, Facepainting, snow flurries, food and gift vendors, pony rides, and a bounce house, slide, and an inflatable obstacle course from XTreem Family fun.

The event culminated in a magical moment when singer/actor Kevin Yungman sang O' Holy Night while a 20 foot Christmas tree was lit along with a 30 minute long snow flurry which fell over the crowd in front of the stage.
